Top 10 Furniture retailers in EuropeThe ranking depicts the top 10 Furniture retailers in Europe in
2014, with IKEA as undisputed leader. During 2014 IKEA opened
its first store in Croatia and had particularly good growth in
Hungary and Portugal. With a far behind second place is the
Home Retail Group with its brands Argos and Homebase.
Although not yet finalised, a deal has been made in January 2016
for the takeover of the Home Retail Group by UK retailer
Sainsbury's for an amount of 1,700 billion euro. South African
Steinhoff sells household furniture to lower-income shoppers
and makes most of its profit in Europe, but is also active in
Africa and Asia.
